1. Our WHI Declaration of Independence

In the industrialized medical model, a disclaimer is often “fine print” designed to evade liability. At the Wounded Healers Institute (WHI), our disclaimer is a Constitutional Boundary. It is the “Legal Firewall” that separates the Art of Healing (Education) from the Business of Medicine (Clinical Treatment).

We operate on a strict Bifurcation of Roles to protect the integrity of our mission and the sovereignty of our financial structure (S-Corp):

  • The Institute (LLC): WHI is a Multimedia Educational and Research Institute. We sell Intellectual Property (IP), educational curriculums (PWH), and somatic superfoods. We do not provide medical diagnoses or clinical therapy. When you engage with the Institute, you are a Student/Member, not a patient.
  • The Clinician (License): While our Founder holds clinical licensure, he does not operate under that license within the Institute. This negative covenant protects the “Healer” from the “Bureaucratic Tyranny” of the state, ensuring that our advocacy for psychedelics and recovery is protected as Free Speech (Academic Freedom) rather than scrutinized as “malpractice”.

The Moral-Ethical Reality: We define the “Psychological Unconscious” as the “Physical Body”. Therefore, our work is somatic education. We reject the reductionist view that “Healing” requires a prescription. Healing is an innate biological imperative; “Treatment” is a billable service code. We offer the former.

2. Authorship Protocol: Lived Experience as Expertise

The Wounded Healers Institute Journal (WHIJ) and this blog reject the “Credential Cartel” of modern academia. We operate under the Daubert and Frye-WHI Standard, which redefines the “relevant scientific community” to include Healers, Recovery Advocates, and those with Lived Experience.

Our Authorship Criteria:

  • Lived Experience is Empirical Data: We prioritize the “Wounded Healer Archetype.” An author’s authority is derived from having “been there and come back,” not just from observing it in a lab. We value Qualitative Wisdom over quantitative rigidity.
  • Anti-Reductionism: We reject binary logic (1+1=2) when applied to the human soul. Our content explores the emergent properties of recovery (1+1=3). We flag and reject “Scientific Apophenia”—the false pattern recognition of the industrialized system that pathologizes normal human suffering.

3. AI Transparency & The “Ghost in the Machine”

We utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a tool for Semantic Architecture, not as a replacement for the human soul.

  • AI Authorship: AI cannot hold “Moral Character” or sign a “Moral Character Clause”; therefore, it cannot be an author.
  • Transparency: If AI is used to organize thoughts or generate metadata, it is obvious to those with lived experience. We refuse to present algorithmic output as human wisdom, although they have the same source.

4. The “Moral Monetary” Strategy

  • Passive vs. Active Income: Intellectual Property (IP) and Education, revenue generated from this blog, the journal, and our courses is classified as Royalties/Passive Income or Retail Income. This is distinct from “Professional Service Income” (therapy), protecting the S-Corp.
  • The Legacy Clause: All content published here is protected by a Legacy Clause. Upon any dissolution of the Institute, this data is not “sold for parts” but transferred to a public trust to preserve the “Right to Heal” for future generations.

CONSTITUTIONAL MEDICAL, LEGAL, & PHILOSOPHICAL DISCLAIMER

1. EDUCATIONAL AND RESEARCH MANDATE (The “Institute” Defense) Wounded Healers Institute, LLC (WHI) is a Multimedia Educational and Research Institute, not a licensed medical, psychological, or clinical practice. All content, trainings, “gym” memberships, and consultations provided by WHI are strictly for vocational, spiritual, and re-educational purposes.

  • No Medical Advice: The information provided regarding the Addiction as Dissociation Model (ADM), Path of the Wounded Healer (PWH), and somatic practices is theoretical and educational. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or DSM-5 mental health disorder [Source 881, 1130, 1723].
  • Wellness vs. Illness: WHI addresses “Normative Dissociation,” “Universal Addictions” (perfectionism, altruism, ambition), and “Developmental Trauma,” which we categorize as non-diagnostic conditions of human existence (V-Codes/Z-Codes). We do not treat pathology [Source 72, 1724].

2. BIFURCATION OF ROLES You acknowledge that Adam O’Brien, PhD, serves this Institute solely in his capacity as Executive Director, Researcher, and Educator.

  • Negative Covenant: While the Founder holds state licensure as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), he is explicitly NOT operating under that license within this Institute. The Institute is legally prohibited from the “Corporate Practice of Medicine” and does not provide clinical therapy or medical services [Source 49, 73, 1725].
  • Distinct Capacity: Any clinical services provided by Adam O’Brien personally are performed under a separate legal entity and licensure, distinct from the operations of this Company. No doctor-patient relationship is established by your engagement with WHI [Source 55, 74].

3. PHILOSOPHICAL DEFINITIONS (The “Somatic” Shield) To prevent legal misinterpretation of our services, WHI operates under the following definitions which you accept by participating:

  • The Unconscious: WHI defines the “Psychological Unconscious” as the “Physical Body” [Source 120, 1693, 1746]. Therefore, our somatic practices (breathwork, biofeedback) are educational tools for physical self-regulation, not medical interventions.
  • Healing vs. Treatment: We distinguish “Healing” (an innate, internal biological and spiritual process of memory reconsolidation) from “Treatment” (an external medical intervention). WHI facilitates the former; we do not provide the latter [Source 57, 1662, 1719].

4. SOMATIC SUPERFOODS & RETAIL (FDA & OCM Disclosure)

  • Dietary Supplements: All products available through WHI (including CBD, Hemp, and “Somatic Superfoods”) are sold as dietary supplements and foods. They have not been evaluated by the FDA to treat or cure any disease [Source 68, 1358, 1726].
  • Personal Responsibility: You acknowledge that these products are tools for “mindful dissociation” and wellness. You assume full responsibility for their consumption and agree to consult a physician regarding interactions with prescribed medications [Source 69, 1748].

5. UNCONSCIOUS INFORMED CONSENT (UIC) WHI operates on a standard of Unconscious Informed Consent. By engaging with our content or services, you affirm that you have checked with your internal system (parts/ego states) and your physical body, and you grant consent for educational exploration. You acknowledge that deep somatic work can be emotionally activating and voluntarily assume the risks associated with “Shadow Work” and “Professional Recovery” [Source 57, 1691, 1730].

6. EMERGENCY CONTACT WHI is not a crisis center. If you are experiencing a medical or psychiatric emergency, you agree to call 911 or proceed to the nearest emergency room immediately. 988 for psychological emergencies.

**EDUCATIONAL AND RESEARCH NOTICE: NON-CLINICAL CONTENT**

The content provided by the Wounded Healers Institute (WHI), including all articles, media, and educational materials, is for informational, educational, research, and spiritual purposes only. It does not constitute medical, psychological, or legal advice, nor is it intended to be a substitute for professional consultation, diagnosis, or treatment.

Wounded Healers Institute, LLC is a Multimedia Educational and Research Institute, not a licensed medical or psychological practice. We operate under a strict distinction between **”Healing”**—a holistic, experiential process of self-actualization—and **”Treatment”**—an external, symptom-focused intervention. Our work is intended to educate Healees and Students, not to treat patients.

The theoretical frameworks presented, including the **Addiction as Dissociation Model (ADM)**, are for academic and research exploration. Any discussion of “undiagnosing” or reframing symptoms is a philosophical and educational exercise designed to challenge industrialized paradigms, not to provide a clinical diagnosis.

Statements regarding wellness products, including hemp-derived CBD and dietary supplements, have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Please consult with a qualified and licensed healthcare provider, legal professional, or therapist for any personal health concerns or before making any decisions related to your health, legal standing, or therapeutic regimen. Readers and participants assume all risk associated with the application of the information provided herein. The work of WHI is intended to supplement, not replace, the guidance of licensed professionals operating within the established medical-legal system.

**STATEMENT OF EDITORIAL AND PHILOSOPHICAL POLICY**

The Wounded Healers Institute Journal (WHIJ) is an academic and research publication dedicated to the advancement of qualitative science and the re-emergence of the Healer profession. All content published herein adheres to the following core principles:

1. **Epistemological Standard:** Submissions are evaluated according to the **Daubert-WHI Standard**, which privileges qualitative wisdom, phenomenological inquiry, and the validation of **”Lived Experience” as empirical data**. The WHIJ rejects reductionist biomedical models that pathologize normal human responses to trauma.

2. **Theoretical Alignment:** All content is framed within the **Addiction as Dissociation Model (ADM)**, which defines addiction as a trauma-related dissociative response, not a disease. The foundational axiom that **”the physical body is the psychological unconscious”** informs all analysis.

3. **Scope of Practice:** The content herein is for research and educational purposes and should not be interpreted as clinical diagnosis, treatment recommendation, or a substitute for consultation with a licensed professional. The WHIJ does not practice medicine, psychology, or law; it conducts a “psycho-legal autopsy” of these systems to foster a new paradigm of healing. The distinction between **Moral-Ethics** (action-based integrity) and **Legal-Ethics** (fear-based compliance) is a central theme of our inquiry.

**3. Attribution and Use of Wounded Healers Institute – Open Source (WHI-OS) Material**

WHI’s intellectual property, balancing the mission to disseminate knowledge with the need to maintain the integrity of the models and the viability of the Institute.

**ATTRIBUTION AND USE OF WOUNDED HEALERS INSTITUTE – OPEN SOURCE (WHI-OS) MATERIAL**

The Wounded Healers Institute – Open Source (WHI-OS) initiative is a Moral-Ethical imperative to disseminate the core principles of the Addiction as Dissociation Model (ADM) and the Path of the Wounded Healer (PWH) to the community of Healers. We believe this knowledge is a universal right, essential for countering the systemic pathology of industrialized systems.

Materials designated as WHI-OS may be shared, cited, and utilized for non-commercial educational and advocacy purposes under the following conditions:

1. **Mandatory Attribution:** All use must explicitly credit **”Dr. Adam O’Brien and the Wounded Healers Institute (woundedhealersinstitute.org)”** as the source. This is a non-negotiable requirement to honor the origin of the work.

2. **Integrity of the Model:** The core tenets of the ADM and PWH, including the definitions of addiction, dissociation, and the primacy of “Lived Experience,” must not be altered or presented in a way that misrepresents their philosophical foundation or re-integrates them into a reductionist biomedical framework.

3. **Non-Commercial Use:** The use of WHI-OS materials to create commercial training programs, paid workshops, or derivative products is prohibited without express written consent and proper certification through the Wounded Healers Institute. The revenue generated from our official programs funds our advocacy mission.

This open-source initiative is distinct from the formal **”Path of the Wounded Healer (PWH)” certification**, which represents a structured, vocational training for those seeking to practice within this paradigm. The WHI-OS serves to educate; the PWH serves to train.
