Greetings and welcome to the Addiction as Dissociation Model offering.
For those who want to work with Dr. Adam and ask any questions…
Addiction Re-Education Program (AREP) is part of our commitment to truth and common sense around addiction care, drug policy, research, and science. Our AREP programming educates individuals, small groups, organizations, and schools. We offer our research to anyone willing to engage with our understanding of these topics. Drawing from our clinical, research, and professional expertise, we have developed programming to meet everyone’s re-educational needs.
AREP offers help for those who identified with universal process addictions based on perfectionism, altruism, and ambition addiction. This extends to addiction to food (e.g., gastro bypass surgery), sex, relationship, love, internet, perfectionism, altrusim, ambitious, and trauma addiction.
Since Dr. Adam’s first D.A.R.E. Class (he was the first graduating D.A.R.E. class in his schooling), he has been interested in what addiction is and how drugs impact, effect, and expand conscious awareness. ADM research and his clinical experience offer new insights into addiction, consciousness, dissociation, diagnostics, and human behavior. Historically, programs like D.A.R.E. have been the standard for decades. With the War on Drugs ending, we see the need to revamp America’s addiction curricula based on our research and findings. The historical example of D.A.R.E. provides insight into the nature of the War on Drugs and those who supported it. Additionally, we explores states of consciousness, psychedelics, neuroscience, and the nature of the mind, blending modern healing practices with traditional methods.
Wounded Healer’s perspective is rooted in the dissociation-focused, recovery-informed, and healing-inspired curriculum of the Wounded Healers Institute (WHI). As trends in psychology often favor those in power, our presentation addresses truths about mental health and common law that are sure to engage audiences in lively discussion.
Dr. Adam provides a civics lesson to age-appropriate audiences, weaving in his research on trauma, dissociation, and addiction. His phenomenological and qualitative approach is designed to support audiences of all ages, although we recommend participants be over the age of 12. Our programming includes reparenting strategies and materials that can be applied to individuals, families, or communities.
Parenting Program
Because drug awareness involves aspects of parenting, we translate our methods with parents to help them feel more equip to handle topics that surround addiction. With an accurate definition of addiction, we can provide education on them. As part of our WHI re-educational programming, we offer a parenting program for those who wish to learn from our methods and research. Since we work with inner children and teach parenting skills, we have adapted these principles to meet societal needs. We offer principles of conditioning, stress reduction techniques, and common healing methods that support health and development.
We provide education, training, coaching, consultation, advocacy, retreats, and workshops on our healing research. We perform healing meditations and invite people to learn how to use legally available products to enhance psychological performance, increase conscious awareness, and avoid the life traps of unconscious ignorance.
The Addiction as Dissociation Model (ADM)
The ADM, developed through phenomenological investigation, posits that addiction is not fundamentally a brain disease but a response to unresolved trauma.
• Definition: Addiction is the relationship created between unresolved trauma and the continued progression of dissociative responses. It is a normal, adaptive response to an overwhelming experience (trauma or stress).
• Implication: Addiction is transdiagnostic. Since dissociation is seen as the “disease” of addiction, healing must focus on resolving the underlying traumatic memories (including drug use memories) through processes like Memory Reconsolidation (MR).
• Universal Addictions: We advocate for the clinical recognition of perfectionism, altruism, and ambition as addictions, as they are fueled by the same trauma-related dissociative processes but are currently overlooked by established diagnostic categories.
