Welcome to Wounded Healers!
You are receiving this Greetings Link because you either have found out about us or you have met with us and we have determined that this is the best path for you…
Looking for healing, someone to give you direction, support, and care?
Through our research effects, we are honoring our findings by offering willing participants and clients individual and professional education of our approach for people looking for more than what therapy can offer.
We offer on going healing for posttraumatic growth, resiliency training, and performance enhancement for those who want to become everything they know they are and believe themselves to be capable of.
We support physical and mental wealth, physical wellness, healing from developmental trauma, supports creating a normative baseline of dissociation, help set neuroregulation, address universal addictions, relationship support and growth, and navigating psychedelic states of (un)consciousness.
By combining healing methods with spiritual practices like meditation through the lens of the Addiction as Dissociation Model.
WHI have weekly live classes, provide ongoing support with office hours with Dr. Adam, and an online educational platform that you can utilize in between to help you create a maintenance program that will support you in your posttraumatic growth. We are also educating people on healing so they can become the healer they need to be.
Educational and Healing services can included: Addiction as Dissociation Model coaching, Path of the Wounded Healer, Psychedelic Integration, Life and Death (Spiritual), Stage of life conflicts, Recovery, Anger Management, Stress Management, Pain Management, Meditation/Mindfulness, Advocacy, Integrative Medicine and Wellness, Shamanistic and Breath, Pain/Chronic Stress-Reduction, Life Story, Creative Arts, Psychedelic Healing Sound Bath; Transformational Healing, Career, Performance Enhancement, Mindful Stress Reduction, and/or Harm Reduction.
Think of this like a gym or a mental health spa… and we will be your personal trainers, educator, coaches, and healers. We are also a spiritual and educational center for personal growth and a path to enlightenment or self-actualization.
As a member of WHI, you will gain access to our wellness classes and other educational resources, online content, and Dr. Adam. We support people in their on going healing from everyday stress (acute or chronic), which we see as helping positive outcomes happen. This model is designed to support your on going healing from developmental trauma, normative dissociation, and universal addictions.
You can have an active diagnosis and engage in our services, as long as it is supportive of your personal and professional goals and you are current with a medical and/or mental health provider.
Our educational, healing, and wellness model follows the Path of the Wounded Healer, which is academically based on the Addiction as Dissociation Model and our continued research (O’Brien, 2024a; O’Brien, 2024b; O’Brien, 2024c; O’Brien, 2024d). You have the option of getting a membership like in a gym or having one-on-one personal healing, coaching, or training. Both come with the perks of engaging in our services, which include Neurofeedback training, Bemer with Pulse Electro-Magntic Field (PEMF) technology, spiritual and ritualistic ceremonies, and psychedelic sitting, guiding, and healing. This is all to support your posttraumatic growth, resilience, and universal healing.

LOCATIONS AND DIRECTIONS
Home office is 160 Loomis Rd. Chatham NY 12037. It is a dirt road so PLEASE DRIVE SLOW (15 mph max) – EVEN IF YOU ARE RUNNING LATE! because children and law enforcement live on the road). (In winter and wet months consider going from 203 to Rt.9 to Raup and then left on Loomis.)
From 90, take the Taconic southbound down to Exit 99 (Chatham – Rt. 203) Head East on Rt. 203 and take a left on Rt. 9. Take second left on Raup Rd. Then second left onto Loomis Road.
We are at the top of the hill of Loomis Road on the left and there is a black mailbox and a rock marked 160. Enter the property and please go straight (No turning left or right) and park in the front of the house on the stone parking lot (leave enough space for others). Looking straight at the house it looks like there are 3 of them, follow the stone path to the right to where the waiting room is. Please enter at your designated time.
The Hudson Office (Monday’s ONLY) is at 84 Green St. Suite 4 – Hudson N.Y. 12534 Please park in parking spot labelled: SUITE 4 Parking) near the wooden ramp, as that is where the entrance is. Also, there is the sign “Karuna Grief Counseling.” The suite is on the second floor.
Albany Office (Friday’s Mostly) is at 255 Lark St Suite 4 Albany N.Y. Enter the main building and go upstairs to the back office: Suite 4. Parking is directly available behind main building. Entry to the parking is right along side of the building (not through the Trinity Church parking lot, however, if you do go through Trinity Church – you may be able to get there if cars are not blocking it).
*Acknowledging that this location/building has a particular history in our community, we understand how and why it may be triggering. If this location is triggering you, please let us know and we can work something else out. We are trauma specialists and are looking to help everyone heal and can help connect you to other services, if necessary. We have long worked with victims of crime and NYS Office of Victim Services (OVS). Also, there is a detached space on the same property where we could meet or we have other office locations in the area. *We will make special considerations if this location is an issue for you.*

Scheduling and Hours: We work on a first come first serve basis, depending on clinical need. If we reach out to you and don’t hear from you then the time slot that I originally offered may not be available. Generally, 7am-5pm Monday-Friday.
More about our Educational and Healing Approach
Education/healing, in general, offers support to people maintaining their life, personal, and professional goals and helps them to build stamina. Since developmental trauma is not considered a diagnosis (by the medical and psychological industry standards of the day), our stance is that many people are often being treated for a diagnosis that does not (and should not) exist. If the normative range of trauma produces normal responses to common events, then what the helping professions are really doing is treating normal. The education/coaching model offers support for the normative ranges of living life on life’s terms and having respect for the living and dying process. This is what we believe society needs because the people we have worked with have told us that this is what they need. Our clinical practice has shown to us that 75-90% of therapy is designated to talking about developmental trauma. We have polled hundreds of therapists and providers who report the same percentages. The way we see it, people are addicted or dependent on the systems they come from.
We have seen that simply regulating the body through non-clinical means such as meditative reprocessing (our term is mindful dissociation) supports the body’s innate healing system (endocannabinoid system). When we support normative healing, personal and professional growth occurs. If the term “healing” is a term that you need an explanation for, we suggest reading our foundational document: Addiction as Trauma-related Dissociation: A Phenomenological Investigation into the Addictive State (O’Brien, 2023).You can access that work: HERE.
Our educational/coaching and wellness model and path is theoretically based on the Addiction as Dissociation Model and allows for the Path of the Wounded Healer to be revealed. This path is a response to the insights that we gained by doing our doctoral work. These insights are generally outlined in different places, but are also experienced by going through the application and orientation process. It will make more sense the more you go through it. If you need more individual explanation, we recommend doing a consultation session to help with direct questions. Most answers can be found in the orientation process. You can also see our Frequently Asked Questions FAQs.
Path of the Wounded Healer (Intensive Format Outlined)
Imagine that you have something that is stuck within you that is causing distress and/or is impacting your quality of life. Imagine going to someone for a two, or four or an eight hour visit, working through it in real time. Well, as a preventative way of maintaining your personal and professional life, we offer a way healing your deepest wounds without interrupting your daily life… too much.
Our Intensive Trauma Retreat approach, whether or not you are working with psychedelic medicines or not, there is clearly a need to have longer sessions. Our PWH programming prepares people for this, does it with them, and offers aftercare. Our on going programming helps build resiliency, trains core strength training, and enhances performance enhancement. For clients, our gym/spa serves as our aftercare when they are no longer diagnosable (if they never were diagnosable).
Our intensive model involves greeting someone to the big goodbye (ego death). We orient people to our approach and our overall impression of where psychology stands today. First, we have first contact, which we get a lot of information. Second, we offer a 1-hour consultation where you do the Meeting Area or a 2-3 hour intake where we do the Meeting Area>Two Containers>Bulk Blink>Toxic Shame (clearing out developmental trauma). Third, we prepare people for their path.
