Is the Office of Cannabis Management Conducting Scientific or Qualitative Research?
Introduction
How and why can a governmental agency ask seemingly rather innocent questions that are obviously personal and definitely HIPAA-related? As a licensed professional, asking these HIPAA-related details online and not providing more informed consent about what this, what is for, and what they will do with it is concerning. As a researcher, it would be criminal if we did it, but not if it is qualitative research and volunteer.
As our observation that HIPAA is ignored when federally involved (e.g., the 2012 NSA evidence of recording American Citizens against their free will), we must observe that lawyers, psychologist, psychiatrist, and medical doctors or their national associations have still not advocated against it to date. This lack of informed consent, HIPAA-related Protect Health Information (PHI) is concerning to anyone who knows that their research is about collecting your data so they can distribute their interpretation of facts (e.g., like a propagandist “war on drugs”). As a citizen and moral researcher, this is concerning from a governmental and state management agency, but what is more concerning is that this is a trend, legally sanctioned, and thought to be a good idea by those who came up with it.
In the wake of possibly returning to “war on drug” levels (HERE) against a healing plant, what a citizen would expect is that the governmental agency would be the one producing the research to protect the livelihood and health of millions by securing that cannabis is a plant and not a drug, psychedelics produce healing in the body via the endocannabinoid system, and are not really addictive (HERE). This paradox goes deeper… HERE. However, as we have seen complacency in the population and the field of psychology with “war on drug” laws, addiction as “disease” debate, non-addictive opiates, chemical imbalances, and COVID mandates, we must object to their level of development, awareness, and moral initiative as the law of the land.

Discussion
Is asking medically-assisted citizens to provide their personal health information and HIPAA-related information to a governmental agency a good thing or not? Is the government a business or service that is funded by paying taxes?
If the professions were created separate and not equal, then who created them? And why do those who continue to enable this behavior believe that psychology does not know who they are, how old they are acting or behaving, and what they are up to? If the government is not responsible for protecting their citizens when not directly responsible, then citizens should not be directly responsible by providing for them.

Implications
If choice is free, then you’re the customer.
Future Recommendations
Stop governmental overreach by securing medical freedom and provide an education as to what the masses will need to know to survive in this world.
